Grading of the Papers
A
= If you receive an "A" you wrote an excellent well-constructed
essay, with no spelling mistakes or run-on sentences. You had a clear thesis
that described what your paper was about and you thoughtfully considered the
paper assignment. The whole paper flowed in a logical manner with transitional
sentences between the paragraphs and you had a conclusion, which summed up your
paper very well.
B
= If you receive a "B" you wrote a good essay. Your paper was
well written but had a few rough spots. Maybe you had a thesis, which was okay
but might not have fully described what the paper was about or your paper
lacked a thorough conclusion.
C
= If you receive a "C" you wrote an adequate essay. Your paper is
acceptable but is unclear or hard to follow.
D
= If you receive a "D" you wrote an incomplete paper. Either you
did not follow the assignment or you have no thesis or conclusion and your
paper is unclear and insufficient. YOU need to come and talk with me.
F
= If you receive an "F" you turned in a poor paper, it was
incomplete and superficial and did not engage with the assignment at all. YOU
need to come and talk with me.
