Book Review/WebPages Requirements and Rubric

Using Kozol’ book, create a series of basic WebPages that represent issues, ideas, reflections, interpretations of the book. Develop a coherent theme and idea that carries through with your analysis of the book and why it may be important for other educators to know about and explore the areas your have chosen to include. Highlight resources/connections/photographs etc that are important for educators to access based on your ‘theme of analysis’ for this book. Are there places to direct other educators so that they may help them act as positive change-agents for issues raised by Kozol?

Potentially, you could visit organizations/schools that may represent what Kozol discusses, interview organizers/staff/educators/volunteers that are related to your topic and ideas. You may review newspapers/magazines/journals collecting information on the topics or investigate ideas/ places/people that Kozol discusses in the book. What did you learn? How can you learn more?  Where are places that can help to change this situation? Are there organizations that are working to change this situation? What issues do these organization face? Why is this an important community resource for educators?

Your set of WebPages should include a clear introduction, a rationale for why you selected this organization, a short description what your site investigates and the methodology used (how did you collect data? interviews? newspaper articles, open meeting visit - all/any of these are permissible), a discussion of your findings – (i.e. what issues does this organization/school face, and any questions that arose from your research, and links to external sites and resources about the organization).
