putting pressure

Talking to other people and Interview other people you can get more in to things. I think that we will get a new school if we keep talking to people. If we get a camera and record the dirty school in show other people or other schools nad if we take a vote in are school. Like if I Interview mr.bittorf Friend becasue he work at the Boe and if we get a petition. in I am Interviewing mr.bittorf .

I want to talk to Mr. bittorf's friend because he is a lawyer.

I think he can help us becuase he was working at the Boe.

It will be good becuase I can get more things from him.

  1. What is a petition? a petition is a paper you got to sign.

    2. Why are we having people sign our petition? because we wont a new school.

    3. I felt successful with the petition becuase it is things in are school that we need.

    4. The easiest part of the petition was just to help them.

    5. This was easy because we just going to get are petition sign.

    6. The hardest part of the petition was to walk around to aks people to sign are petition.

    7. This was hard because some people wil dise me.

    8. When I was petitioning, I enjoyed aksing people to sign are petition.

    9. I enjoyed it because if it was just me I would not do it.

    10. When I was petitioning, I disliked I like the petition.

    11. I dislike it because I like it.

    12. My next steps for petitioning are aksing more people.

Dear 5th Grade Class at Byrd:

I am a Board member of the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Chicago and recently had the pleasure of meeting your teacher Mr. Schultz. He told us then of your mission to affect the decision making of the school system and the state in order to secure a better learning environment. I also read Mr. Zorn's article discussing the steps you have taken and will continue to take.

Your commitment to this project is outstanding. You are right to want to be in an environment which is more effective for your learning needs as you move through your school career. I encourage you to keep working towards your goals especially in the professional manner you have already demonstrated. In school, just as in a business environment, there will
always be issues to tackle and better solutions to seek out. The most important thing I have learned is to keep working towards what you think is the right solution. If you don't reach the "perfect" solution you had originally intended, I have learned that great things happen along the way and superb alternatives also appear.

I commend your approach to this problem and your passion for it as well. Even though I am not at school with you, I have learned a great deal simply by hearing of your actions and plans. While you seek a better environment for your education, it seems as though you have already, through your own efforts, elevated your education.

My best wishes for your continued crusade.

Based on what Ms. Citera wrote to you, what will happen if you do not reach the "perfect" solution to your Project Citizen plans?

If we do not get a new school I would stop project citizen because we ben doing this for 3 mouths in plus I wont to get this over with and I would go to jenner with my anut we got on the news but I think that is not going to work because we are kids some people do no what we mean. We can leanr in the school its just the school. in this story it says that great things happen along the way and superb alternatives also appear. The author says we have already, through your own efforts, elevated our education. I know this because I was at the school. We can leanr in the school its just the school envirnment.

When I found out the school was going to close I was happy that it was geting closeing down. So we did this project for nothing. Even though we did this project and we are not gettting a new school there are somegood things that happened to us.

Some of the good things are we had gotten on the news. this made me feel good and proud because we have been doing it for six months. i also got to go to springfield becuase of the project. i learned how the government does things. it is hard work. but i am interested in becoming a representative.the only reason we wne to springfield was becuase of project citizen.

project citizen let us do thing we notrmally would nt do. like inviting people in here to interview and take them on tours. in the future i can do these things again. project citizen taught me a lot.

wheile we were doing project citizen i liked it. i will remember it as a good thing even we did not get a new school.

i do not ewant to go to jeenner becuase my auntie works there. i think there is going to be violence there. becuase we are coming from byr d to over there. there are gang problems there with roman candles fireworks.

i would reccomemex another school doing project citizen. even though we did not get what we wanted, project citizen was on the news and good thing happened even if wti was not a new school. i think other kids would enjoy doing this kidn of project. cuase it lasts long. we get to get on the news and stuff. we also do fun things sometimes.
