i HAD A GREAT DAY MR.SLOSS BROUTH A FRIEND TO ARE CLASS HE WENT TO BYRD AND HE HAD TOLD .USE THAT HE WAS AND LD AND HE SAID LD IS NOTING BUT LEARING DISOBULNTE. HE GIFT USE SOME OF HIS MAGZINE AND TOLD WHO HE HAD TAKEING PICTURE OF. THEN WE WASTALKING BAOUT WHO HE MATT HAS NAME WAS QUENTON CURTIS AND HE SEEN LIKE A GOOD MEN. THEN HE TOLD USE HE WOULD PUT ARE CLASS AND HIS MAGZINE AND TELL THE ABOUT HOW BAD ARE SCHOOL IS .AND THEN HE TAKEN PICTURE OF USE FOR HE CAN PUT ARE PICTURE AND HIS MAGZINE.BUT I HAD FUN.

1. STATEMENT: Yesterday Mr. Schultz went to the Board Members of the Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF) to present the great things Room 405 is doing.
   How does this make you feel? Why? it make me feel like important person.
   
   2. STATEMENT: The class was successful getting many responses to our school wide survey.
   How does this make you feel? Why? Im happy that they wanted to do the survey.
   
   3. STATEMENT: Everyone in the class was supposed to get 125 signatures on the petition to show support. Not everybody has.
   How does this make you feel? Why?really I do not care.
   
   4. What can Room 405 students do to get more signatures on the petition? ask more people came they sign.
   
   5. Do you think it is important to continue getting signatures on the petition? yes for more peopel agree with us.
   
   6. Now that many classes have returned their surveys, what is the next step? to see what what they think byrd should do.
   
   7. What do you think the surveys will reveal about the feelings and thoughts about the kids and teachers at Byrd Academy? really I do not know.
   
   8. What is going to be a good way to share the results of the survey? With the school? With the community? With the city? With the Board of Education? try to get on the news paper and tell everybody baout are school.
   
   9. STATEMENT: Mr. Schultz combined all the students stories into a letter that was hand delivered to Rev. Jesse Jackson yesterday.
   How does this make you feel? Why? It make me feel good to share are stuff to jesse jackson.
   
   10. STATEMENT: Mr. Schultz used the same letter but changed who it was made out to and gave it to all the board members at the CRF meeting yesterday and it was very well received. Some members even want to come to our school based on the invitation from the class. How does this make you feel? Why? ti just feel lkie team work you did mr.schults.
   
   11. STATEMENT: One alternative solution to our class policy will be to combine Byrd Academy with another nearby school.
   How does this make you feel? Why? make us feel like a strong school.
   
   12. If Byrd got combined with another school, is our fight worth it? Why? yes I thnik are fight will be worth it.

I think the project citizen is ok but I think we are not going to get a new Byrd Academy school .The project citizen will might give use a new school.

2/6/04 feelings

When I was talking to mr. sloss if elt like i was in a business. i felt like an improtant person. He was telling me imoprotant thingsd that is why if elt like an important person. I felt a nesreporter too. this made me feel liek amodel. i felt like an imporotant model for my classmates because i was showing them an example of what we can do to try and get a new school.

when we were interviewing he was telling us improtant things for instnace what CIP sdhoudl do for us. i felt like a grwon man and i felt more respoonsible because i was doing a great activity.

I got excited baecasue i was talking to the president of the local school council. Hehe gave good question and and made me proud of my self.
Rev.sloss was a good man he made men feel like I was not and school no more.He made me feel like I gauther . but I was happy what didand I thank Rev.sloss for that.

I feel good when I was interviewing rev.sloss and it was great to interview rev.sloss but I will like to interview rev.sloss again any time

The thing I want to do is the video camera because I thing I would be good and doing that.I would show important think about our school like the restroom the lunchroom and show where are assble be and here are gym at and how are water fountain and how it dirty that why I want to do the video camber.
I would not just press play and show the whole building. I would get some help from mr.jones.

I’m really mad about Byrd getting torn down I’m still mad that Byrd is getting torn down .I been at Byrd for a long time I been at Byrd for 7 years all the year I been at Byrd school I had fun. I really did not care about how the buildings look its I about the inside of the building. I had my ups and downs at Byrd. I remember like it was yesterday I had fun with mr.joradn he are gym teacher. I play for Byrd football team I had a great time on the football team we was and 6th place out whole city. And I play for Byrd basketball we win every game we play but at the playoff we lost. I had fun playing for Byrd.

I do not want to go to Jenner. Because I do nothing think it going to be right for me. This is because I do not like some of the people in Jenner. I am worried that I will fight with the kids from Jenner because we do not get along. The board of education should know this because there could be problems that could be fixed before all the Byrd kids go there.

I am mad that the board of education did not listen to what we wanted. we did all this work and we were trying to let the people hear our idea and trying see what we were doing. Lots of people did but the decision makers did not.

Project citizen is good. It is good because I like to interview people. It is also good because I like to work with the group. This is the first time I did a project like this. It was sometimes hard but I would work it out and work hard with it. I going to be some body and I will never give up.

I think I learned a lot this year. I think project citizen was reason for that. Some of the stuff I will be able to do in the future. For instance, I know how to interview people. I know how to get my ideas in the newspaper. I know how a DVD is made. I know how to make a survey and a petition and think these are the important things. I really mad but t the city going to do and think its going to be best for Chicago. I am going to miss Byrd thank you for everything.
