Action Plan - Fund Raising

You can get involved!

We are deteremined to do whatever it takes to get a new school building! Even if we have to raise the money ourselves!

We have gotten a lot of donations to help our school already. Some of the people who are donating money are long time friends of the school, but others don't even know us. They have said it is important for eveyone to have a comfortable place to learn. WE COULDN'T AGREE MORE!

We have had a lot of ideas about raising money ourselves to build a new school. Based on all the research we have done, we know that our new school will cost about $18,000,000. We know that is a lot of money but since the CIP and the Board of Education is not coming up with the money we figure we have to get it ourselves.

One of the problems that we learned about from our Local School Council President was that the Board of Education stopped giving us yearly Capital Improvement funds to maintain our current school. He told us that the money that used to go to maintain the school was going to "our new school." You guessed it, we do not get money to maintain the old building and we have not seen the promises of the new building! Basically, we are being left behind!

Here are some ideas that we came up with to raise money for the new school building:

  • Car wash
  • Sell Candy
  • Make buttons
  • Ask for donations
  • Bake sale

If you want to donate money to help our cause you can: Make your check payable to Richard E. Byrd Community Academy and make sure to write Project Citizen fund on it.
